The Red Haired Boy - old-time banjo

Played on a reproduction 1840s minstrel banjo. I like playing Scottish and Irish folk songs (this one is Irish) on the banjo, to illustrate the similarities between that music and that of the southern Appalachians (a region heavily settled by Scots/Irish immigrants). Plus, this song is fun! Lots of bluegrass banjoists play this where I come from (central Alabama), but it’s really cool in old-time style on a fretless gut-string.
