’Very dangerous’ storm hits south-east Queensland as Christmas heavy weather begins | ABC News

Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for southern Queensland on Christmas Eve. Flash flooding, damaging winds, and large hail were forecast for Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby, Caboolture, Ipswich and Redcliffe. Nine centimetre hail was recorded in Burpengary, and 8cm hail in Dayboro, while Wivenhoe Dam recorded 58mm of rain in 30 minutes. A warning has also been issued for damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. Senior meteorologist at the weather bureau, Angus Hines, has urged people to stay up to date with the most current weather warnings.
