- a polyglot (5/5) - ’Russischer Tango’

Leo Monosson recorded for Lonora Co., Warsaw, about 20 sides in Summer 1932. Most of them were Polish hits of the time and all of them were sung and recorded in Polish language. He recorded also a few German songs with Polish lyrics, one of them was a tango composed by Rotter and Kaper ’Spiel mir auf der Balalaika einen Russischen tango !’ Enclosed to the clip is a label of this recording; regret that due to the poor technical state of the record I cannot do the same with the music, hence - German original. Beautiful tango, played and sung with passion and emotion as well as rich instrumental arrangement of Paul Godwin orchestra, 1932 and I must admit, better than Polish rendition. Rec. -- Archive
