Marc-André Hamelin - Étude No. 4 in C minor ’d’après Alkan’ (2010)

Full name: Étude No. 4 in C minor ’Étude à mouvement perpétuellement semblable, after Alkan’ Pf: .wav file made by me in FL Studio 12 ----- “This piece is a combination of two of Charles-Valentin Alkan’s études, namely the “Étude en mouvement semblable et perpétuel, ,“ and the finale of his “Symphonie for solo piano, “ The basic idea to combine these two works contrapuntally is not mine; it must be credited to my friend the composer Alistair Hinton, a towering musical intellect to whom concepts of this kind occur naturally and easily. (He is also a highly original voice among creators, and perhaps one day will earn the recognition due him as one of the contemporary composers for the piano.)
