Putin Unleashes Hypersonic Missiles, Shahed Drones At Ukrainian Air Base To Cripple Storm Shadow Use

Russia reportedly launched a barrage of cruise missiles and exploding drones at Ukraine’s Starokostiantyniv Air Base in an apparent attempt to neutralize Ukraine’s ability to launch the Storm Shadow missiles. Ukrainian air defences reportedly downed 36 cruise missiles and destroyed several Shahed-136 “suicide“ drones aimed at the base. However, the damage was inflicted by four Kinzhal missiles launched from Russian MIG-31K jets. Starokostiantyniv is the base for the only regiment with Su-24 aircraft, the carriers of the UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles.
