INGREDIENTS PREPARATIONS METHODS
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark, your choice)
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
- Cooking spray for greasing the pan
Now that we have everything, let’s start preparing our homemade chocolate brownies.
Step 1 Preheat the Oven
First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s nice and hot when we’re ready to bake.
Step 2 Prepare the Baking Pan
Grease a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) square baking pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on two sides. This will make it easy to lift the brownies out later.
Step 3 Melt the Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl or on the stove, melt the 2 sticks of butter until it’s completely liquid. Be careful not to overheat it; we just want it melted, not boiling.
Step 4 Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt. This will help remove any lumps and ensure our brownies are nice and smooth.
Step 5 Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Step 6 Add the Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and fold them together. Be sure not to overmix; just combine until there are no more visible streaks of flour.
Step 7 Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts (Optional)
For that extra chocolatey goodness, fold in the chocolate chips. If you like some crunch, you can also add chopped nuts at this point. I’m using walnuts, but you can choose your favorite nuts or skip them altogether.
Step 8 Bake
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Then, pop it into your preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs, but not wet batter.
Step 9 Cool and Slice
Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, using the parchment paper overhangs, lift the brownies out and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
