Keanu Reeves has been trying to return for another movie as John Constantine for years — Constantine was released in 2005 — and after much work behind the scenes, the actor is back to lead one of DC’s new Elseworlds movies, which are those that exist outside the canon of the new DCU. The bigger creative freedom that comes with Constantine 2 being an Elseworlds movie is already manifesting itself. Lawrence recently confirmed that Constantine 2 will be “very rated R.“ That was the direction intended for the original Constantine, which was made under PG-13 guidelines imposed by Warner Bros., only for the film then to receive an R rating for its tone.
