Found Footage: 1955 . Hancock Aircraft Carrier Vought F7U Cutlass

This is 8mm home movie film footage from 1955.   The film starts with footage of the downtown San Diego, California skyline from a high vantage point in a hotel or building.  From the panoramic views of the city, the film transitions to . Hancock Aircraft Carrier.  The film shows many Vought F7U Cutlass fighter-bomber jets taking off and landing.  The film ends with a fire in the distance (@ 2:48) and then the ship comes close and the fire is right off the deck of the aircraft carrier (@ 2:51).  The film ends with a jet in flight. An interesting bit of information, the pilots took off and landed with the cockpits open.  This was due to the risks involved.  Aircraft mechanics and jet construction weren’t as safe as it is over 50 years later.
