After three and a half years of researching, documenting, constructing, and preserving the spaces of American artist, James Castle, the doors to his reimagined house opened in Boise, Idaho on April 28, 2018.
Filmmaker Zach Voss of Retroscope Media, was hired early on to follow the project from its inception to completion. Featured in this short film are the eleven artworks by Castle found within the walls of his house.
Rooted in Castle’s sense of wonder and discovery, the house today is a center for contemporary and historical exhibits, tours, performances, talks, an Artist-in-Residence program, and community partnerships. Both the historic buildings and the new wing invite you to explore James Castle’s unique creative spaces.
