Heifer’s Shampoo (1959)

Murayshire, Scotland. L/S of a cattle show. People walk in circles showing their cows to the audience. Cut to a L/S of the audience, great crowd. Cut to a M/S of a man walking the winning bull - he looks very pretty. M/S of a man with his hands in bucket full of foam. C/U high angle shot of hands in the bucket. M/S of man’s profile as he prepares a shampoo. Man’s name is George Edwards and he is getting ready to wash and groom his champion Aberdeen Angus Heifer. Mr Edwards takes the bucket and walks towards his animal. She is large and beautiful. M/S of Mr Edwards brushing and shampooing the cow. Then he takes the bucket and pours water onto cow’s back. He starts brushing vigorously again. Voiceover explains the washing procedure and beauty regime that cows are subjected to when chosen for a show or sale. M/S of Mr Edwards taking more water to wash off the shampoo. C/U shot of water being poured over the cow. Cow keeps moving as if water is too cold. Man brushes the cow. She looks really shiny. C
