Harley’s first 45

In the wake of Indian and Excelsior dominating the 45 cubic inch class in Hillclimbing, Harley desired to join fun, but first, they had to design an entirely new machine. Today on “The Drive For History” we focus on the prototype that helped push Harley-Davidson into a whole new class of racing. Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum, located in Maggie Valley, NC, features over 375 American motorcycles, unique cars, and transportation history. For more information about the museum, visit
