Moldova’s Presidential Election: Sandu vs. Stoianoglo in Sunday runoff, Moscow polls open for citizens in Russian capital
Moldova is holding a crucial presidential runoff election on Sunday, pitting the incumbent Maia Sandu against underdog challenger Alexander Stoianoglo.
In the first round of voting, Sandu secured just over 42%, with the former Prosecutor General Stoianoglo nearly 26% - both advanced to the second round.
In central Moscow, where polling stations are open for Moldovans residing in the Russian capital, seemingly hundreds of people have gathered to cast their ballots.
The scene is bustling with activity, with volunteers offering free hot tea and balloons in the colors of both the Russian and Moldovan flags, a clear sign of the city’s commitment to hosting these elections for its Moldovan residents.
