Closed for Renovation - July 1, 2015 - Little Shop of Horrors - Encores! Off-Center Cast

Here is the cast of the 2015 Encores! Off-Center production of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken’s “Little Shop of Horrors“ performing “Closed for Renovation.“ This video, recorded during the July 1 performance, features Joe Grifasi as Mushnik, Ellen Greene as Audrey, and Jake Gyllenhaal as Seymour Krelborn, as well as Eddie Cooper as Audrey II. The only song from the performance to fully go off the rails, due primarily to a very short rehearsal period (with Jake only having about three days to rehearse) and the complexity of Howard’s lyrics, as Jake and Ellen begin the second verse, Jake launches into the final verse by accident and sends the song into a tail spin. After a brief exchange between he and Jo Grifasi, the trio manage to finish the song. This concert production was directed by Dick Scanlan, choreographed by Patricia Wilcox, and featured musical direction by Chris Fenwick.
