1944 Report on the Normandy Invasion | Remastered and in Color
A high-quality restoration of a 1944 documentation about the D-Day of the Normandy invasion. The event marked the start of the liberation of France and later western Europe by the Allies. On D-Day, the Allies had to overcome the Atlantic wall consisting of thousands of bunkers along the Dutch, Belgian and French coasts.
In the first half, the documentation shows the preparations and training of the Allied forces. In the second half, D-Day and its aftermath are covered.
Between 15:36-16:36, we had to mute the sound because of copyright claims regarding the background music in the original documentation.

The video has been restored and colorized using state-of-the-art machine learning methods.
