Nirvana - How Did They Get Their Name

One of the big things we want to explore is how bands got their names, I mean lets face it that looking back has to be one of the key moments in a band when they settle on a name prior to them becoming famous, I mean you can’t know back then what you will become later down the line, I mean sure you have hopes and dreams but that happens after this crucial moment the moment of choosing a band name. Nirvana was no exception. Kurt Cobain explained to biographer Michael Azerrad, “I wanted a name that was kind of beautiful or nice and pretty instead of a mean, raunch punk rock name like the Angry Samoans. It was nine o’clock in the morning and I was hungover.” Nirvana is a much better name then Fecal Matter, well in my opinion at least.
