How To Perform Japanese Tea Ceremony : Trivias and Behavior【Moving Japan】

Each step of the traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony has its own meaning. This time, we visited a Japanese Tea school in Ginza called HiSUi TOKYO. We are going to introduce how to behave as a guest at a Japanese Tea Ceremony and what these behaviors mean via learning this place. To participate in a Japanese Tea Ceremony, there are a series of important steps to make to follow. Every step has meaning so be sure to follow this video carefully. The first thing you will notice is that to enter the tea ceremony room, you must lower your head and remove your shoes as you crawl through the ground level door called the Nigiriguchi. This is becasue long ago, Samurai were forbidden to carry their swords into the tea room and enures that everyone is of equal status while in the tea room.
