DNC 2024: Ilhan Omar criticises Biden administration for failing to secure truce in Gaza

“How do we allow our Secretary of State to go into Israel, say we are close to securing a ceasefire now for the 11th time, to leave for Egypt, only for Bibi Netanyahu to have a press conference, right after him, and say we are not taking a deal that ends this war?“ US Democratic representative Ilhan Omar described Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Israel, where he failed to secure a Gaza ceasefire deal, as a “humiliation“ faced by Biden administration representatives. The Minnesota representative noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference declaring that no deal would be accepted immediately after Blinken had stated they were close to securing a ceasefire. Omar made the comments at the Uncommitted movement’s press conference in Chicago, Illinois, where thousands of attendees were gathered for the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
