Pat Metheny Group – San Lorenzo (one hour extended)

The Pat Metheny Group debut LP sold over several hundred thousand copies very quickly after it’s release in 1978. Pat was later quoted that he was shocked. “If someone had walked up and hit me with a two-by-four, I wouldn’t have been any more stunned. We weren’t packing them in anywhere, and mostly opening (live) for other artists, but we always got a good reaction. The groundswell of interest was moving beyond jazz and that too surprised me because it was never our intention to reach beyond the jazz audience. We just wanted to address areas like musical form and dynamics and other things.” From the PMG debut ECM album, what Pat has often referred to as the White Album, here’s a one hour extend on the song “San Lorenzo” .
