Glimpses of the 2017 solar eclipse thru San Francisco fog

With cameras everywhere these days, I imagine this will be the most photographed solar eclipse ever (so far). Here’s my little contribution to the vast pile of #solareclipse2017 videos that I imagine exists. As is typical for an August morning in San Francisco, it was foggy (hence this #foglipse). But glimpses of the solar eclipse could still be seen. In fact, in some ways the fog sort of acted like a “filter“ and allowed the modest camera I was using to get some shots that it probably wouldn’t have been able to get if it was pointed at pure, unfiltered sun. You can see the auto-focus struggling in a few places, but parts of it came out okay. This was at close to the maximum eclipse, which I think was about 76% or so in San Francisco. By the way, there’s no audio.
