HANGMAN - A super simple and effective fly for smallmouth bass

This pattern has been an experiment for a few years now, and has provided a fair number of fish. It is neutrally buoyant, and hangs in the water column nicely. Intentionally tied small and sparse, I like fishing it on bright days with full sun, where you need to cast as far and as softly as possible. Great for delicate sniper shots, when the fish can see and feel your boat coming from 40 feet away. Lay this out accurately and softly, over shallow cover, and they often will charge it immediately upon landing, and hang below the fly. Give it one small twitch, and they usually flush it hard. Outrageous fun.
