Ukraine “suicide drones“ sinks Russian warship in Crimea

A massed attack by Ukrainian sea drones has completely destroyed the Russian missile corvette ’Ivanovets’, military intelligence sources have told The Times. Video of the attack published today shows explosive-laden ’suicide’ drones weaving through the waves in a high-speed zig-zag as machine gun bullets splash into the water around them. One after another they ram into the Russian vessel, which is armed with powerful anti-ship missiles, anti-aircraft missiles and three cannon. One drone strike causes a huge explosion, and a camera on board another drone shows the ship listing badly to one side. A further drone video shows only the bow of the vessel above the water before it sinks completely. The Ivanovets is a 184-foot Tarantul-class missile corvette, equipped with ’Mosquito’ cruise missiles, which appear to have detonated during the drone strikes. It is estimated to cost around $70 million to build and outfit, with a crew of 50 trained sailors. No rescue craft can be seen near the ship before it sinks into the cold dark water.
