Alexander Godunov, Corsaire

Alexander Godunov, Ali variation, 1982. Ali was his favorite part, he once said he’d have loved to dance Corsaire when he’d been 50. Alas, that never happened. For the first time he danced Le Corsaire pas de deux, partnered with Lyudmila Smorgachova, at the first round of the II Moscow International Ballet Competition in 1973. He won a Gold Medal back then. THE WORLD TO DANCE IN Dancing lion. Lion dancer. Whirling round and round the world, In the blast of trumpets and fanfares, Big and brash and powerful, Abandoned blond mane flying. Charismatic, spectacular, flamboyant. Whimsical, guileless, ironic. Moody, brooding, haunted. Lunatic, perfectionist, obsessive. Lonely? Afraid? He drank too much. A flame burning high and bright, briefly. Left are ashes in the sea. The Pacific ocean separates California and Sakhalin. By deliciakobri (c) Thanks! From here
