One of the best documentary ever made on the genuine blues of Southern USA. Manthoulis and Fleouter took their time to film the last great performers of blues. Bukka White, Furry Lewis, Mance Lipscomb or Robert Pete Williams are featured in this documentary. They perform entire songs, talk about their art, their lives. This first part of the documentary focuses on rural blues made in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tenessee. They even succeeded to enter a jail to film the inmates singing old chain gang songs.
