“Desteapta-te, romane!“ is the national anthem of Romania and former national anthem of Moldova. The words of the national anthem of Romania belong to Andrei Muresanu (1816-1863), a poet of the romantic direction, journalist, translator, tribune during the Revolution of 1848-1849. The music was written by Pann Anton (1796-1854), poet and ethnographer, singer and author of textbooks on musicology. It was first performed on June 29, 1848 in Rymnik-Vilchya.
