Disappearing airplanes isn’t something all that rare in world aviation, but thanks to the media, these cases are always surrounded with an air of mystery and even mysticism. Meanwhile, these cases are all united by one common characteristic: they all occurred over the oceans, where search operations are difficult, and sometimes even impossible, for obvious reasons.
