8 Bolivian soldiers taken hostage in clashes with protesters report

Eight soldiers were taken hostage in clashes with protesters in the city of Cochabamba on Saturday, with seven eventually being rescued. Arturo Murillo, a government minister, said the soldiers were guarding a caravan of dump trucks trying to unload at a city dump when residents of the K’ara K’ara neighbourhood waited for them with sticks and stones, refused to let them pass, and took eight hostages.
