Daido Moriyama Northern

This is one of my favorite Daido Moriyama books. While most his photo books are filled casual snapshots that kind of seem like a caricature of a theme he’s created throughout years of repetition. This book is comprised of images that embody a sense that Moriyama was soul searching. He had a lot of questions about himself, about life, photography. I’m unsure if Moriyama found what he was seeking. However, in this beautiful photography masterpiece, what he leaves behind is a visual symphony of contrasty, grainy, purposefully engaging images that seem to encapsulate a timelessness. “I rented a room in an apartment for 3 months.
