Grigory Sokolov - Chopin Nocturnes (Sheet Music)

The first nocturne in C minor is probably the most heart-wrenching nocturne that Chopin had composed, demanding a sense of exact proportion. Without that, one would risk sounding either bland or exaggerated. Sokolov’s intensely emotional account here is indeed quite close to how I would envision this piece to sound.
