The Lockheed Martin X-33 was concept for a large Single Stage To Orbit (SSTO) reusable spaceplane designed in the 1990s. It was also a small scale model for the larger Venture Star spaceplane.
The space plan would of used a very unique propulsion system to go into orbit. It would of used 2 XRS-2200 linear aerospike engines which would of ran on Liquid Hydrogen and Liquid Oxygen and this same fuel would have been used for the RCS motors.
Comparing the X-33 and Venture Star to the Space Shuttle they would have been more easier to turnaround between each flight, would have been cheaper to use and carry more payload into orbit.
