150th Anniversary Concert: David Arnold’s A Circle of Sound highlights

On Monday 19 July 2021, thousands of you joined us to celebrate our 150th birthday and our return to full capacity events. The Hall’s 150th Anniversary Concert was our first event without social distancing measures since March 2020. We started working on this special birthday event in 2019, with the help of composer David Arnold, and musical facilitator and composer James Moriarty. They picked ten themes inspired by the Hall’s rich history, then went out into the community to conduct workshops with primary school and secondary school children as well as music college groups, sheltered housing groups and Chelsea pensioners. The result of all this hard work is A Circle of Sound, a musical history of the Hall. For those of us lucky enough to be in the Hall on that night, whether working or watching, it really was one of those nights that will go down in history.
