Moon River - A Jazz Cover of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s Classic // The Hot Sardines

This is our cover of the Academy Award-winning song by Henry Mancini, who wrote the score for 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The lyrics are by the great Johnny Mercer. Legend has it that when Paramount executives first saw Breakfast at Tiffany’s, they wanted to cut “Moon River,“ arguing that it slowed the film’s pace. Audrey Hepburn, who plays the free spirit Holly Golightly, objected and prevailed. The song became a hit, and it won an Oscar in 1962.
