The longest €49 journey. Unbelievable.

Here it is, the (maybe?) longest journey you can do with the Deutschlandticket.
I feel like I’m definitely the first person to have done this, aka the only person weird enough.
Since the news of the Deutschlandticket, (and tbh, since the summer of the €9 ticket that I didn’t vlog anything with), I had been planning to be the first person to do this particular border-to-border journey.
I attempted to travel from Basel, Switzerland to Świnoujście, Poland, in 24 hours, in my attempt to cross the whole of Germany with the Deutschlandticket - so only using Regional trains, buses, trams, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, etc. No ICE or ICE or EC.
A journey of almost 24 hours, with 8 changes, transferring in Freiburg, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Kassel, Halle, Wittenberg, Züssow and Ahlbeck Grenze.
Ahlbeck / Heringsdorf / Świnoujście is kind of a cool place, where you can see the border monument and cross over to Poland, shopping in Polish stores etc, cycle around the promenade and the beach and go to the piers etc. Pretty fun.
The Deutschlandticket can definitely be a good addition to your budget travel in Europe this summer, if used properly!
