It looks at three stages of the “Championship Chase,” a series of 10 open ocean point races for power boat racing. It covers races in Southern California, St. Petersburg, and Miami Beach in Florida. The footage is mostly close up of the boats racing and features famous powerboat racers such as Joel Halpern, Bob North, Larry Wood, Betty Wood (a female champion) and Rocky Aoki -- the Japanese-born American amateur wrestler and restaurateur who founded the popular Japanese cuisine restaurant chain Benihana. The boats, including Aoki’s Benihana #4, are always accompanied by helicopters, making for spectacular close up and wide picture shots. The Kudu Aeroseacraft Corporation was the parent company of KAAMA Racing, widely regarded as one of the most successful offshore powerboat racing teams in history. 0:10 opening sequence of racing boats racing each other on the ocean, 0:48 Title “Championship Chase: A ride on the Wild Side”, 1:17 close up of the two drivers of a power boat, 1:41 scene from final race in Key West Florida with Joel Halpern and Bob North, 1:55 Title “Presented by Kudu”, 2:08 Paul Cook getting into a helicopter to watch the race, 2:58 Joel Halpern’s boat racing, 3:10 Larry Wood’s boat, 3:19 Betty Cook’s boat, 3:34 Bob North’s boat, 4:00 two boats trying to each gain the lead, 4:29 Bob North’s boat races past spectating boats, 4:45 Bob North accepting a trophy, 5:02 all boats at the start of a race driving with a massive audience in the background, 5:44 Sandy Settulo’s boat catches up to the front and takes the lead, 6:32 Cessna 172 flying with boats in the background, 6:42 Larry Wood’s boat speeds up and crashes, 7:38 Rocky Aoki drives past a US Navy submarine spectating, 9:01 Rocky Aoki drives past the finish line, 9:23 Parade in St. Petersburg Florida welcoming the racers with a large parade, 9:51 a tunnel hold race boat hoisted in the water, 10:03 Rocky Aoki in the cockpit, 10:42 Betty Cook and her crew drive to the start line, 11:00 start of the race with all boats lined up with each other, 11:31 the first turn of the race with two boats very close to each other, 12:03 close up of the tunnel hold boat, 12:53 Boat “Streaker” hitting rough waves, zoom out shot of boats racing out onto the open ocean, 14:15 a boat with a busted engine pulls to the side, 14:46 John Corsiglia’s boat driving in third place in rough water and goes up to second place, 16:15 the “Beep Beep” speeds up to try to take the lead, 16:56 “Streaker” drives under the Tampa Skyway bridge, 17:41 group of young people drinking on a boat while spectating, 18:55 “Beep Beep” close up as it drives under the skyway bridge, 19:30 “Beep Beep” drives past the finish line, 19:46 Aerial overview of Miami, 20:06 Start of the Bacardi Trophy Race, 20:43 boats driving next to each other in very rough water, 21:06 “Beep Beep” trying to overtake “Streaker” 22:05 Tom Gentry’s boat appears, 22:36 Aoki’s boat attempting to overtake but swerving while hitting wave, 23:55 Close up of “Beep Beep” with Miami beach in the background, 23:19 Close up of Aoki in his boat, 24:46 leaders turn around a way point, 25:20 Aoki’s boat dead in the water, 25:40 aerial overview of Vimeney Island, Miami Beach, 25:58 close up of “Beep Beep”, 26:47 “Streaker” drives past the finish line, 27:25 Closing Credits We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
