Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected a training ground for mobilized troops on Thursday and was shown firing shots from a sniper rifle in footage apparently intended to show his support for soldiers heading to fight in Ukraine. Meanwhile, civilians in Russia’s Rostov region that borders Ukraine took part in military combat training on Friday, with several saying they were taking advantage of the opportunity to be prepared to defend their country. “I have no husband; I live with my mum and son, so if anything happens, I want to be ready to defend my family,“ Rostov region resident Anna said.
