*** WHY IT SOUNDS A FOURTH LOWER? ***
The piece is played on the lower manual of a Ruckers instrument in original disposition, which is tuned a fourth lower than the upper manual. The specific reasons for this setup are somewhat mysterious. Later on, such instruments were modified to have the lower manual in the same pitch as the upper manual.
