German Rocket Car (1928)

German Rocket Car. Hanover, Germany. Rocket-powered car tests. The car actually has train wheels and is mounted on a railway track. Workers preparing car. CU man inserts rocket. They clear the area & watch from a distance; car sits on track; then suddenly a great cloud of smoke is emitted and the car is propelled forward. Shots from different angles; including above and in slow motion. Rocket car towed back by another car. Shots of workers engineers; scientists; inventors inspecting & preparing car again. A man in white coat lifting a striped cat into a metal case; now this is totally uncalled for animal testing. (We don’t actually see the cat being put into the car, but that is the inference - SL.) Once again they all move away from car. This time the cloud of smoke keeps getting bigger - the car explodes. Shots of the men looking through the wreckage of the car. No sign of the cat. Energy; technology; cruelty to animals. End title: ’Ufa Wochenschau’ w/ spinning globe. FILM ID: A V
