The BBC re-examines the death of Stephen Lawrence, lest we forget about ‘institutional racism’

Thirty years ago, Stephen Lawrence died in south London at the hands of a gang of hooligans. This event though has come to be seen as iconic; symbolising all that is wrong with the country. It also introduced to the general public the concept of institutional racism.
