Former Post Office chairman Henry Staunton’s claims about stalling compensation payments for sub-postmasters and postmistresses are “completely incorrect”, a director at the Business Department has told MPs. Carl Creswell, a director of business resilience tasked with signing off claims submitted under the group litigation order (GLO) scheme, issued a strong denial when asked whether had ever been asked to slow down payouts. “I would have thought somebody would have mentioned that to me,” he said. Mr Creswell described how he had worked with ministers, civil servants and several other people and never been given such an instruction as claimed by Mr Staunton. “I worked very closely with Sarah Munby, she and I worked with Treasury to secure the funding needed for the schemes.” Read more here: #horizon #postoffice #unitedkingdom
