Former Post Office chairman Henry Staunton’s claims about stalling compensation payments for sub-postmasters and postmistresses are “completely incorrect”, a director at the Business Department has told MPs. Carl Creswell, a director of business resilience tasked with signing off claims submitted under the group litigation order (GLO) scheme, issued a strong denial when asked whether had ever been asked to slow down payouts. “I would have thought somebody would have mentioned that to me,” he said.
