KOHAR Symphony Orchestra & Choir pays its respect to a legendary Uruguayan musician Gerardo Matos Rodríguez who composed this beautiful tango in 1917. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most famous and recognizable tangos of all time. La Cumparsita was played during KOHAR Symphony Orchestra & Choir’s concert tour in South America in 2012 including Montevideo, Uruguay, with a melange of the Armenian Duduk to showcase that music recognizes no boundaries and in recognition to the 100th anniversary celebration of La Cumparsita and KOHAR’s appreciation of Uruguay’s music and culture.
