What, if anything, was wrong with the policies of the National Front fifty years ago?

In the wake of a speech by Home Secretary Suella Braverman, the National Front is trending on Twitter. This, along with the name of Enoch Powell, seems to be an obsession with left wing and liberal types in Britain.
