Aathma Rama: Indian Classical Dance Presentation

In celebration of happiness, the radiant dance of the soul immersed in Lord Rama transcends time and space. Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi and Kathak, traditional Indian classical dance forms, come together in this dance item to reflect the radiance of the soul, or aathma, immersed in the spirit of Lord Rama.  Like Bauls, the nomadic dancing storytellers, here the dancers give us glimpses of stories from the Ramayana. Ahalya Moksham, Sita Kalyanam and Shabari Moksham are interwoven with rhythmic movement patterns from four exquisite classical dance forms. The inspiration for this production was the rap Aathma Raama by Brodha V. The creation of this dance item involved several artists and the replacement of rap with Konnakol and Bols.  Dancers Mandara B.S (Kuchipudi), Ragavarshini Shankar(Bharatanatyam), Ananya Sinha (Odissi) and Sunil Sunkara (Kathak) perform the dance which they collectively choreographed.
