孟姜女 Meng Jiang Nv (also known as Meng Jiang Nu or Lady Meng Jiang) Meng Jiang Nv was a legendary character during the Qin Dynasty who went to the Great Wall in search of her husband, a conscripted laborer of the Wall. She learned that he had died of hunger and exhaustion while building the Wall. She cried so much, causing the Great Wall to collapse, then found his deceased body in the rubble.
