Carlo Domeniconi - Hommage a A. de St. Exupéry (Musique pour le petit prince Op. 23)
The little prince
This series is meant as a whole. It is not supposed to be the musical background of the well-known book by A. de Saint-Exupéry but merely to reflect a personal mood.
A meditative character is predomimnant with all movements.
The pieces are technically easy, nevertheless the sound picture varies greatly. All effort should be aimed at the phrasing and the forming of tone colours.
Carlo Domeniconi
Berlín, Mai 1987
Solo guitar. Original version. Short impressionistic and descriptive pieces.
These little musical aphorisms depict with great brevity the main scenes from the novel of the same name. In addition there is something akin to a leitmotiv which does not depict the little prince, but rather his relationship to the world. The motif of the little prince (First Movement) is picked up at the end (Transformation), combined with the motifs of the snake and the rose. The return to the stars is suggested at the end of the fox motif.
