Noche de Reyes Cabalgata, Madrid, Spain 2020

Día de los Reyes Magos, the Feast of the Three Kings, or Epiphany, is celebrated on January 6, the 12th day of Christmas. In Spain, it is the day for giving gifts. On the eve of the feast, Noche de Reyes, Madrid and other Spanish cities hold a cabalgata, a cavalcade or parade featuring the Three Kings. The Noche de Reyes cabalgatas are secularized events, and many civic, commercial and social interest groups participate. There is no ecclesial presence, and no Christian context for the Nativity story. The Kings are transformed to embody universal human values.
