The mainstream narrative regarding the interactions between Jesse Owens and AH is that AH was disgusted by Owens, due to the colour of his skin, and was greatly angered at his victories during the Berlin Olympics in 1936. The official story goes that AH was remarkably rude to Owens, and that the German people at the time were equally bitter about Owens’ presence in their country and his triumphs in ’their’ olympics. Jesse Owens himself, however, tells a very different story. I try to the best of my abilities to present lesser-known facts, figures, and narratives from history, which apparently ruffles some feathers on occasion.
