This meeting commemorates the 99 years from the birthday of Olena Teliha - a talented Ukrainian poetess who was murdered together with hundreds of other Ukrainian patriots by the Germans in 1942. The location is Babyn Yar - a ravine in a suburb of Kyiv, Ukraine, and during the occupation by German forces between 1941–1943, up to 120,000 people were massacred on the specific orders of the German high command.
