Restoring a Vintage Boy Scout Knife and Making a Leather Sheath
A subscriber passed this vintage Boy Scouts of America fixed-blade knife to me to see what I could do with it. It was in rough shape and in need of restoration, but I cleaned it up and gave it a new sheath; complete with storage for a magnesium fire starter (always be prepared!) Watch to the end of the video to see a demonstration of this. The leather washers in the handle were deteriorated, so they had to be replaced. This involved drilling out pins and removing the pommel. So I guess this video is equal parts metal work, restoration, and leathercraft.
Not sure what steel this is made of, but it took a keen edge!
