This week the 10 members of BRICS will meet for their 16th Summit, and the first since the intergovernmental alliance officially grew to 10 members early this year. Western media is already speculating about what might be discussed, including plans to end the hegemony of the US dollar by creating an alternative international payments platform that is “immune to Western sanctions.” But what might that look like? Is a new BRICS currency on the cards?
