Walk-around of the Hummbug

This vehicle started out as a 1974 VW Beetle but was stripped of its tattered body and was mated to a Wombat / Hummbug kit car fiberglass shell. I inherited this project from a friend of mine who gave up on it and left it to rot for 13 years. I got it running in around 9 months of toil and continue to make improvements to it constantly. The car (and I) live in California where it doesn’t rain all summer and most of fall so the always-convertible nature is not much of a problem. The powertrain consists of a 9” DC motor and a 600 amp DCP Raptor controller. The original VW 4 speed trans and clutch still exist mostly it stays in 3rd gear. The batteries are salvaged from an e-Golf: the eight 1 kw modules will last around 23 miles before it leaves me dead on the side of the road. It has a onboard charger that accepts a standard J1772 plug so I can charge the vehicle at any standard EV station. Top speed is around 65 mph, but mostly that is where it just starts shaking too bad to be comfor
