Milei, wearing a black skullcap, was accompanied by Rabbi Axel Wahnish, both placing their hands on the wall, taking a moment of silent reflection and emotionally hugging after. Milei arrived in Israel as the war in Gaza marked four months after it broke out on Oct. 7, when Hamas stormed into southern Israel. The assault killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and militants abducted around 250 others. The Health Ministry in Gaza said the Palestinian death toll has risen to 27,478. On Wednesday Milei will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue his tour of the Holocaust Museum and the ancient city of Jerusalem.
